As another year passes, Disney+ and Lucasfilm have released more Star Wars television for our viewing pleasure. Since The Mandolorian landed in 2019, we’ve consistently been getting shows based “in a galaxy far, far away.”
There have been high highs and, depending on who you’re asking, exceedingly low lows since Disney has taken over the reins of Lucasfilm. But in taking the good with the bad, there’s now a bevy of content for the fandom. Instead of returning with a few new seasons, 2022 introduced three live-action series (The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor) and one animated anthology (Tales of the Jedi). With four original titles of the Star Wars franchise debuting in 2022 alone, we thought ranking each series under the Disney regime was in order.
However, like most Lucasfilm projects these days, some are better than others. The reception of each title on Rotten Tomatoes reviews from critics and fans reflects this. We know Star Wars is held to a different standard for many and that aggregated review scores are not the monolithic opinion of everyone on Earth, but it is a good metric to gauge success, especially for television shows that all live on the same platform. We will be considering the aggregated reviews of critics on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as the audience score. But we will also use common sense whether to gauge these at face value or with a grain of salt (you know SW fans review-bomb anything.)
That said, below are the best Star Wars series so far, ranked from least to most successful.
