NBC Scraps Snoop Dogg Special, Replaces It With Today Hosts
Several big networks ring in the New Year with competing specials, most notably ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper host CNN’s New Year’s Eve special again this year. NBC initially tapped The Voice coach Snoop Dogg for a two-hour special that was supposed to air on Wednesday, December 31.

The network announced in November that the special episode was scrapped. They’ve replaced it with a look back at 2025 in a special hosted by former Today host Hoda Kotb and Jenna & Friend‘s Jenna Bush Hager.
A Toast to 2025! airs on NBC and Peacock at 10:30 p.m. on NBC and Peacock. Celebrities such as Tiffany Haddish and Ethan Slater join the hosts to reflect on the last year.
Hoda Kotb Excited Over Upcoming Gig With Al Roker
Hoda Kotb may have left her full-time hosting gig, but she continues to work with NBC on multiple projects. Fresh after hosting the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade alongside Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie in November, Hoda Kotb is looking forward to her upcoming gig with Al Roker.

The pair reunite to host NBC’s Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. This year is Al Roker’s 27th year hosting the popular celebration. It will be Hoda Kotb’s 11th year as co-host. She took to social media to share her excitement.
“Uncle Al!!! #roseparade so happy to be hosting with @alroker @craigmelvinnbc !!!” she wrote on a photo of Al Roker and her two daughters, Haley and Hope. Today anchor Craig Melvin joins them as co-host for this year’s parade.
2026 Rose Parade Theme, Details
The Tournament of Roses Parade is an annual event held on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, California. It kicks off the Rose Bowl college football game. The parade features floral floats, marching bands, and much more.
The parade starts at 11 a.m. Eastern/8 a.m. Pacific and Thursday, January 1, 2026. Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, and Craig Melvin provide commentary along the two-hour parade route.
This year’s theme is “The Magic In Teamwork” and features famed football icon Magic Johnson as the parade’s Grand Marshal.
Hoda Kotb isn’t the only one excited by her upcoming reunion with Al Roker. Fans of the Today hosts took to social media to share their reaction. “I’ll be watching. There are a few different channels/hosts….but i like you guys the best,” one fan wrote.
Another added, “Can’t wait to watch you two in action!” A third fan praised their enduring friendship, “Love how everyone on your show past and present have true and lasting friendships.
Fans of the Today Show will see Hoda Kotb back in action with her former co-stars during NBC’s coverage of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy, starting on February 6.
