“The doctor will never let us go. Not until the next upgrade.” Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for a vengeance super soldier action thrillers called Dark Asset, another one of these direct-to-VOD action movies. Written and directed by Michael Winnick, it’s being released everywhere in September for anyone ready to watch. While attempting to pick up a woman at a bar, a mysterious man weaves a tale involving spies, implanted microchips, and about the dangerous military scientist who is pursuing him. Little does she know, this stranger is actually telling her the truth. This clever, fast-paced, action spy-thriller is about a John Doe super soldier who has escaped from the military program that has transformed him into a lethal living weapon. This stars Byron Mann as the John, with Robert Patrick, Helena Mattsson, Shani Rigsbee, Sabina Gadecki, Truong Ngoc Anh, and Erica Muñoz. Of course, if you want to watch an awesome super soldier sci-fi movie, I’d rather recommend Leigh Whannell’s Upgrade instead of this. The amount of times they mention “upgrade” in this trailer makes me wonder if they’re clearly making this wink.
