“They are going to root out every last one of us!” “That’s why we need to call in the calvary!” The Avenue has revealed an official trailer for a brand new hitman comedy film called Old Guy, yet another extremely generic assassin movies that Hollywood is churning out all the time now. From action director Simon West, Old Guy is getting dumped in theaters and on VOD at the same time in late February. An aging hitman is forced to train a young prodigy when his employer moves to replace the old guard. But when they learn they are being betrayed, the unlikely pair turns into an extra lethal team – with their double-crossing bosses in their sights. It’s an action-packed mistmatched hitman comedy. Co-starring Christoph Waltz and Cooper Hoffman as the lead duo, Lucy Liu, Ryan McParland, Ann Akinjirin, Jason Done, Tony Hirst, Kate Katzman, Conor Mullen, and Rory Mullen. This looks especially rough – so obviously a direct-to-video dump because the quality just doesn’t look up to par for theaters. Nah this one doesn’t seem worth it.

Stuck in a boring “desk” assignment while pining for the love of spunky club manager Anata, Danny is thrilled when The Company pulls him back in the field, but only to train Gen Z newcomer Wihlborg (Cooper Hoffman), a prodigy assassin with a bad attitude. The pair is asked to eliminate a competing syndicate but uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover. The Company didn’t anticipate that Danny’s experience coupled with the kid’s brilliance would create such an unlikely bond between the two. Along with Anata’s crucial help, the duo takes matters into their own hands to take down The Company and age has no limits! Old Guy is directed by British filmmaker Simon West, director of action movies including Con Air, The General’s Daughter, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, When a Stranger Calls, The Mechanic, The Expendables 2, Stolen, Wild Card, Stratton, Gun Shy, Skyfire, and The Legend Hunters previously. The screenplay is written by Greg Johnson. Produced by Martin Brennan, Norman Golightly, Petr Jákl, Jib Polhemus, Hal Sadoff. The Avenue debuts Johnson’s Old Guy in select US theaters + on VOD starting February 21st, 2025 next year. Looks funny?
