“My primary protocol is to keep you alive.” Netflix has launched an official trailer for a sci-fi action movie called Atlas, starring Jennifer Lopez. Arriving to watch this May – it’s yet another star-driven expensive spectacle that will be streaming this summer. Also another artificial intelligence-related sci-fi movie, since it’s the big tech trend of the moment, there have to be movies about it. Atlas is set in a bleak future, where an A.I. soldier has determined that the only way to end war is to end humanity. Lopez plays a data analyst with a deep distrust of A.I., who joins a mission to capture a renegade robot. When plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from AI is to trust it. Co-starring Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, & Mark Strong. From the looks of it, this seems like pro-A.I. propaganda disguised as a sci-fi movie. The Creator isn’t the same, this seems rather blatant in its message that she must “trust” the A.I. Unfortunately this looks way too cheesy to be any good, especially with JLo’s performance in this mech suit, but I’m sure it’ll be a streaming hit anyway. Take a look.
Here’s the main official trailer (+ new poster) for Brad Peyton’s Atlas, direct from Netflix’s YouTube:

Atlas Shepherd (Jennifer Lopez), a brilliant but misanthropic data analyst with a deep distrust of artificial intelligence, joins a mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past. But when plans go awry, her only hope of saving the future of humanity from A.I. is to trust it. Atlas, formerly known as Spider, is directed by American VFX-drivn filmmaker Brad Peyton, director of the films Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, San Andreas, Incarnate, and also Rampage previously, plus the series “Daybreak” and “Albedo” most recently. The screenplay is written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite. It’s produced by Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson for ASAP Entertainment; Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures; Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina for Nuyorican Productions; Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter for Berlanti/Schechter Films. Netflix releases Peyton’s Atlas movie streaming on Netflix starting May 24th, 2024 this summer. Your thoughts?
