“I thought ‘Big Red’ wasn’t scared of anything.” Ketchup has launched the full official trailer for the new Hellboy: The Crooked Man, after first being unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. This is the second reboot of the Hellboy movies, based on Mike Mignola’s comic books, following Guillermo del Toro’s version with Ron Perlman, then David Harbour’s version in 2019. From filmmaker Brian Taylor (of Crank, “Happy!”) comes this brand new Hellboy starring Jack Kesy as the big red guy. In the 1950s, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent, stranded in rural Appalachia, discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: The Crooked Man. This film “promises to captivate audiences with its gripping story and stunning visuals.” This stars Kesy as Hellboy, Adeline Rudolph as Bobbie Jo Song, and Jefferson White as Tom Ferrel, along with Leah McNamara, Joseph Marcell, Hannah Margetson, and Martin Bassindale. This seems much more like Evil Dead featuring Hellboy than an actual BPRD Hellboy movie, but so be it. Might be dark and creepy and weird and fun? Check it out.
Here’s the main official trailer (+ poster) for Brian Taylor’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man, from YouTube:
The new Hellboy brings a chilling tale of survival against the forces of darkness. Set in the 1950s, rookie BPRD agent Bobbie Jo Song (Adeline Rudolph) is in a dire situation when tasked with delivering a spider to the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. She must enlist the help of Hellboy (Jack Kesy) to confront the malevolent Crooked Man, who has returned to Earth to harvest souls for the devil. Hellboy: The Crooked Man is directed by the American writer / filmmaker Brian Taylor (one half of “Neveldine / Taylor”), director of the movies Crank, Crank: High Voltage, Gamer, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, and Mom and Dad, and the “Happy” series previously, plus a writer of the “Brave New World” (2020) series. The screenplay is written by Christopher Golden & Mike Mignola and Brian Taylor. Adapted from the Dark Horse comics created & written by Mike Mignola. It’s produced by Jeffrey Greenstein, Yariv Lerner, Mike Richardson, Sam Schulte, Robert Van Norden, Les Weldon, and Jonathan Yunger. Ketchup Ent. will debut Hellboy: The Crooked Man in US theaters starting this fall – stay tuned for the exact date. Look any good?
