“Are you ready?” “Ready for what?” “To party, my man!!” Ahahaha let’s go!! Raven Banner has released a first look teaser trailer for a wacky horror comedy called Frankie Freako, the latest by filmmaker Steven Kostanski. He’s the very same director behind the other cult classic horror faves Manborg, The Void, and Psycho Goreman (!!) and this is his new creation – “he taps into the nostalgia of Saturday morning cartoons, the charm of old-school puppetry, and gonzo comedy!” Yep that sounds like crazy fun. Workaholic yuppie Conor is in an existential rut until one night he catches a bizarre ad for a party hotline hosted by a strange dancing goblin: Frankie Freako. Could this be just the recipe to spice up his boring life? Soon his home is overrun with interdimensional beings that bring chaos to his life and he must figure out how to get rid of them. This stars Conor Sweeney, Adam Brooks, and Kristy Wordsworth. This is a really quick intro teaser, we don’t get to meet any of the puppets or see any of the mayhem yet. Keep an eye out for this movie.
Here’s the first teaser trailer (+ poster) for Steven Kostanski’s Frankie Freako, direct from YouTube:
Full intro from Fantasia: “Conor (Conor Sweeney) is a square. He doesn’t swear, thinks holding hands with his gorgeous wife Kristina (Kristy Wordsworth) is a wild night, and goes to bed well before 9pm. When his slimy boss, Mr. Buechler (Adam Brooks) and Kristina call him out on his squareness, Conor is deeply offended. Determined to prove them wrong, he’s lured by a 1-900 ad promising the party of a lifetime with a creature named Frankie Freako. Calling the hotline opens a world of chaos, and Frankie, joined by two other “Freako” friends, trash his house. Who are these little monsters, why have they decided to torment him endlessly? Conor must get rid of them before his wife returns from a weekend trip, plus appease the creepy Buechler. These interdimensional beings are more than pesky, bringing all their troubles and interplanetary terrors right to Conor’s door!” Frankie Freako is written and directed by Canadian genre filmmaker Steven Kostanski, director of the gnarly fan-favorite genre films Manborg, Father’s Day, The Void, Leprechaun Returns, and Psycho Goreman (PG) previously, plus episodes of the rebooted “Day of the Dead” series most recently. Produced by Michael Paszt, Pasha Patriki. This initially premiered at the 2024 Fantasia Film Festival in Canada this summer with more festivals on the way. Raven Banner will release Kostanski’s Frankie Freako in select US theaters starting October 4th, 2024 this horror season. Wacky?
