Here is Olly Gibbs’ Magnificent 2023 Best Picture Nominees Artwork

March 1, 2024
The 2024 Academy Awards are just over a week away – the ceremony is on March 10th. Leading up this big Hollywood event, many talented poster designers have been creating their annual set of poster designs for the 10 Best Picture nominees. However, there is one design that stands out above all the others year after year – the Golden Statue illustrations created by the designer Olly Gibbs. He creates a unique statue design for each of the 10 Best Picture nominated movies and adds lots of elements & tiny details from each one into the illustration. Gibbs started this in 2014, and has been creating new designs for the set of Oscar nominees each year. It’s similar to the incredible set of Golden Statues created by the designer Olly Moss for the 85th Academy Awards (I used to have this poster framed on my wall). In celebration of the upcoming 2024 Oscar ceremony, Olly Gibbs has unveiled his set of 10 statues for the 10 nominees from 2023. Take a closer look…
Three of my favorite Oscar designs included below own their own – to see all the details & elements in them:
Images direct from Olly Gibbs’ Twitter: “Presenting the Oscars illustration of the 96th Academy Awards Best Picture Nominees for 2024!” He is also selling prints and sets of nominees from the past few years in his online shop. For a recap of his first few years (from 2014 to 2018) you can visit Olly’s official website. “Each film is portrayed by the gold statue in a costume and elements from the film.” If you want to see some of his creations from Academy Awards nominees in the past, click here (including Lady Bird, The Shape of Water, Arrival). Hopefully he keeps making these! The 10 Best Picture nominees for the 96th Academy Awards are: Cord Jefferson’s American Fiction, Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, Chris Nolan’s Oppenheimer, Celine Song’s Past Lives, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, and Jonathan Glazer’s The Zone of Interest. Which of these Oscar designs are your favorites from this year?
