“I’ll pay twice the amount to anyone who can help us find my son.” 🇭🇹! Dark Star Pictures has revealed the official trailer for Kidnapping Inc., a Haitian kidnapping action thriller set on & filmed on the Caribbean island. This first premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival last year in the Midnight section, although reviews were mostly mixed on it (currently at 62% on RT). Doc and Zoe are two hapless kidnappers tasked with what appears to be a simple abduction for hire, only to find out that it’s anything but and end up in the middle of a political conspiracy. A kinetic, vibrant action film described as “a frantic, frenzied black comedy ride that never lets up and doesn’t leave hostages on the crossroad between Pulp Fiction and City of God.” The film, which tackles the kidnapping crisis in Haiti, had multiple crew members get kidnapped during the film’s production. This stars Jasmuel Andri, Rolapthon Mercure, Anabel Lopez, Ashley Laraque, and Gessica Geneu. It’s a fun one, totally crazy and bonkers. But I’ll admit I didn’t love it – a bit too wild.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Bruno Mourral’s film Kidnapping Inc., direct from YouTube:
A group of kidnappers take the son of a wealthy presidential candidate in Haiti. Doc and Zoe are two amateur gangsters tasked with delivering the young man to their ruthless boss. With a hitman on their trail, Zoe accidentally kills the hostage. Panicked, Doc and Zoe come across Patrick and his very pregnant wife Laura. Patrick looks exactly like the senator’s dead son. Doc and Zoe decide to abduct the couple and replace the candidate’s son with Patrick, in this action-packed, wildly funny crime adventure. Kidnapping Inc. is directed by Haitian filmmaker Bruno Mourral, directing his second feature after Kafou previously, and a few other shorts. The screenplay is by Jasmuel Andri and Bruno Mourral and Gilbert Mirambeau Jr. It’s produced by Gaethan Chancy, Samuel Chauvin, Yanick Létourneau, Gilbert Mirambeau Jr., and Bruno Mourral. This initially premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival last year. Dark Star Pictures will debut Kidnapping Inc. in select US theaters + on VOD starting on February 7th, 2025 this winter. Who’s down?
