“I think the people that really matter in your life are far more willing to forgive than you might expect.” Falling Forward Films has revealed an official US trailer for an indie boxing movie titled Day of the Fight, written and directed by British actor Jack Huston – directing his first ever feature film. This first premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last year in the Orizzonti Extra section, and it also played at the Mill Valley Film Festival and SCAD Savannah Film Festival. Written and directed by Jack Huston, Day of the Fight is an incredibly powerful and emotionally charged love story featuring delicate performances from the actors Michael C. Pitt, Nicolette Robinson, Ron Perlman, Joe Pesci, John Magaro, Steve Buscemi, and Anatol Yusef. The B&W film follows a once renowned boxer as he takes a redemptive journey through his past and present, on the day of his first fight since he left prison. This is a really beautiful trailer, showing the more tender and emotional side of this story of an aging boxer figuring out who his legacy. This looks magnificent. Jack adds: “I’ve loved every second of making this movie and I am beyond excited to share it.”
Here’s the first official trailer for Jack Huston’s film Day of the Fight, direct from YouTube:
“I am filled with such immense gratitude to bring Day of the Fight to theaters this fall. It was my goal to make something honest and relatable about the complexities of life that asks the eternal question – how far are we willing to go for the ones we love. I was blessed to have worked with the most incredible cast, who brought these characters to life with such passion, anchored by Michael C. Pitt’s achingly beautiful performance. As well as a crew whose hard work and tenacity shows in every frame.” –Director Jack Huston
On the day of his first fight since leaving prison, Mikey (Michael C. Pitt), a once celebrated boxer, takes a redemptive journey through his past and present, putting his own life at risk due to a medical condition only he knows about. Over the course of the day, Mikey visits influential figures from his life, encouraging him to overcome his checkered past. After a fight for the ages at Madison Square Garden, a twist of events reveals that this day was never really about boxing for Mikey. An underdog story built on introspection, self-sacrifice, and forgiveness which asks the question: how far are we willing to go for the ones we love? Day of the Fight is both written directed by British actor / filmmaker Jack Huston, making his directorial debut with this film. It’s produced by Josh Porter, Jack Huston, Jai Stefan, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Colleen Camp. This initially premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last year. Falling Forward Films will debut Huston’s Day of the Fight in select US theaters starting November 15th, 2024 this fall. Who’s interested?
