“I think my daughter is alive… I have to find her.” Showtime has unveiled a new official US trailer for the crime thriller mystery series titled The Woman in the Wall, originally made by BBC in the UK. This is now set for a streaming debuting later this month in the US on Paramount+, after debuting in the UK last fall. Not to be confused with The Woman in the Window or Woman in the House Across the Street…, this is about a woman who finds a dead body in her home. Lorna Brady wakes one morning to find a corpse in her house with no idea who the woman is. She doubts herself, because she has long suffered from extreme bouts of sleepwalking due to trauma in her youth. Unluckily for Lorna, Detective Colman Akande is now also on her tail, for a crime seemingly unrelated to the body she has discovered in her house. Together, they explore secrets from their past to uncover this mystery. Ruth Wilson stars as Lorna, and Daryl McCormack (from Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) co-stars as Det. Colman, along with Abby Fitz, Chizzy Akudolu, Lynn Rafferty, Fiona Browne, & Hilda Fay. It actually seems like a pretty solid thriller! Worth a look.

Lorna Brady (Ruth Wilson) is a woman from the small, fictional Irish town of Kilkinure who wakes one morning to find a corpse in her house. Chillingly, Lorna has no idea who the dead woman is, or if she might be responsible for the apparent murder. That’s because Lorna has long suffered from extreme bouts of sleepwalking ever since she was ripped from her life at the age of 15 and incarcerated in a convent. There, Lorna gave birth to her daughter Agnes, who was cruelly taken from her and whose fate Lorna has never known… As Detective Colman searches for a murderer and Lorna searches for her daughter, their paths collide in ways they could never have anticipated. Lorna’s search for Agnes will take her deep into her own past and to the heart of Kilkinure’s darkest secrets, as she and Colman seek the answers they each so desperately need. The Woman in the Wall is a UK series created by Joe Murtagh (Calm with Horses, “Gangs of London”), who’s also the lead writer. Featuring episodes directed by Solene Guichard, Rachna Suri (“The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself”), and Harry Wootliff (Only You, True Things). Executive produced by Ruth Wilson, Joe Murtagh, Sam Lavender, Simon Maxwell, Harry Wootliff. BBC will debut The Woman in the Wall streaming on Showtime / Paramount+ (for the US) starting on January 19th, 2024.
