“It’s not just about football… It’s more than just kickin’ a ball.” Kaleidoscope Ent. in the UK has revealed an official trailer for a sports biopic documentary titled Defoe – a defining portrait of one of England’s greatest goal-scorers, Jermain Defoe. As a player for many Premier League teams, this is obviously set for a UK release first, opening in February with a one night screening event and Q&A. Mixing remarkable interviews with Jermain, his family, fellow players and managers, including Harry Redknapp, Peter Crouch, and Joe Cole, and iconic archive footage – this inspiring, honest and unexpectedly heart-warming doc film explores how football gave Jermain Defoe both great success on the pitch and so much more beyond it, offering a fascinating insight into the life and career of one of England’s most prolific high-profile scorers. ⚽ Director James Ross adds: “Though I knew his goals on the pitch, I never expected that by asking him to trace his roots and his career, it would reveal such a complex tale of love, loss, trauma and redemption off the pitch.”
