“I used to think the case is over when it’s cracked, and the culprit’s arrested… But later I realized cases never end.” CMC Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a revenge thriller from China titled Hovering Blade, formerly known as either Hesitation Blade or Blade of Hesitation as well. It just opened in China a few weeks ago, and also opens in US theaters this June. “If a teenager who has committed a heinous crime can be given a second chance to reform, then how can my deceased child be saved?” After his daughter is raped and murdered by a group of underage individuals, single father Li Changfeng resolutely embarks on the path of revenge. During this journey, he becomes entangled in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with both the perpetrators and the police. The pursuit of justice and vengeance collide as emotions clash with the law in the ultimate showdown. Starring Xi Qi, Jingchun Wang, Qianyuan Wang, Youhao Zhang, Shuang Wu, and Alan Aruna. This has so much anguished yelling in it! And it seems brutal, especially when the dad finally catches up with the kids and goes berserk on them. Looks like it might be worth a watch after all.

“If a teenager who has committed a heinous crime can be given a second chance to reform, then how can my deceased child be saved?” Starring the incredible talents of both Qianyuan Wang and Jingchun Wang, Hovering Blade dives deep into the heart of moral dilemmas as well as the fight against juvenile crime. The single father Li Chang Feng (Jingchun Wang) has resolutely embarked upon the road of revenge after his daughter was sexually abused and killed by several minors. Hovering Blade, also known as 彷徨之刃 in Mandarin (or Pang Huang Zhi Ren) or Blade of Hesitation, is directed by Chinese filmmaker Zhuo Chen, director of the films Song of Silence and The Invisible Guest previously, plus another short. The screenplay is written by Xiangyun Xu; based on the novel by Japanese author Keigo Higashino. Executive produced by Jimmy Huang. The film just opened in China earlier in May this summer. CMC Pictures will debut Hovering Blade in select US theaters (+ other countries) starting on June 7th, 2024 coming soon. Look any good?
