Now that you’ve seen it, what did you think? “I am Paul Muad’Dib Atreides, duke of Arrakis! Long live the fighters!” Now in theaters worldwide is Dune: Part Two, the highly anticipated continuation of the story from Dune: Part One (2021), adapted from Frank Herbert’s seminal sci-fi novel of the same name. The story flows after the ending of Part One, following Paul Atreides (starring Timothée Chalamet) as he integrates with the Fremen of the desert planet Arrakis, helping them take out ships harvesting spice. In doing so, he disrupts the balance of the entire galaxy, gaining the attention of the Emperor, along with the ire of the evil Baron Harkonnen. What will happen next? How will Paul unite the Fremen? Can they band together to battle the Space Houses and gain freedom once and for all? Find out in this exhilarating science fiction epic with a glorious runtime of 2 hours and 46 minutes. The reviews are in – calling it a masterpiece and an instant sci-fi classic! Do you agree with them? Does it live up to the hype? Or is it over-indulgent and boring? Once you’ve seen it, leave a comment below with YOUR thoughts on Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two…

To fuel the fire, yes Dune: Part Two is awesome. THIS! IS! CINEMA! Absolutely extraordinary. The scope and scale is off the charts epic and exhilarating. This is proper *event* cinema – I was blown away by the IMAX experience. I believe we need an empowering revolutionary movie like this in the world right now. I stand with the Fremen of Arrakis! ✊ But clearly Paul has other plans. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya give two all-timer performances, each one digging incredibly deep into their emotions for this intense and heartbreaking story. I also think both Rebecca Ferguson and Javier Bardem are superb here, handling their roles with the right gravitas. However, I do think I prefer Dune: Part One more than Part Two (having rewatched it in IMAX a few weeks prior). This will be a trilogy as good as Lord of the Rings in the end (we need Part Three ASAP!), and as with that trilogy, The Two Towers is my least favorite of the three. However, there is still so much to love about this movie, so much to admire. From the VFX to the sound design to the intensity to all the costumes to the supremely dark twist in the third act. I need to go see it again (& again).
What did you think of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two? One of the best sci-fi movies ever?
