Ted Danson Goes Undercover in ‘A Man on the Inside’ Series Trailer

“It’s good for me. Makes me feel useful.” Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a comedy series called A Man on the Inside, which will be streaming later in November. This is the next series from Mike Schur, known for creating “Parks & Rec”, “The Good Place”, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. This time he’s borrowing from another source – this fun series is based on Oscar-nominated Chilean documentary film called The Mole Agent, which was included as one of my favorite documentaries of 2020. Retired professor Charles feels life has nothing new in store for him. He’s become stuck in his routine and grown distant from his daughter. But when he spies a classified ad from a private investigator, he’s inspired to roll the dice on a new adventure, going undercover into the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco to solve the mystery of a stolen family heirloom. Ted Danson stars with Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and a cast including: Sally Struthers, Margaret Avery, John Getz, Susan Ruttan, Lori Tan Chinn, Clyde Kusatsu, Marc Evan Jackson, Jama Williamson, Wyatt Yang, and Deuce Basco. I’m a big fan of this doc already and this series looks like an amusing take on the cozy concept.

Retired professor Charles (Ted Danson) feels life has nothing new in store for him. A year after his wife’s passing, he’s stuck in his routine & grown distant from his daughter Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis). But when he spies a classified ad from private investigator Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), he’s inspired to roll the dice on a new adventure. Charles’ mission: to go undercover inside the Pacific View Retirement Home and solve the mystery of a stolen family heirloom. Everyone, residents & staff, is a potential suspect, and it’s up to Charles to solve the case without landing on the radar of Didi (Stephanie Beatriz), the all-seeing, all-knowing director of Pacific View. Keeping a low profile proves difficult as the affable Charles quickly endears himself to his fellow residents. Being a “man on the inside” sends him on an exciting journey that makes him realize there is a lot more life left to be had — and allows him to reconnect with his daughter.
