“Embrace the darkness. Fear the light.” Goldove has revealed an official trailer for Lumina, an indie sci-fi horror thriller from filmmaker Gino McKoy. Set for release in July this summer, this looks like an ambitious indie film. A terrifying sci-fi thrill ride, Lumina follows four friends desperately searching for their abductee friend in a DUMB – Deep Underground Military Base. Whether they find their friend or not, what they find in the desert of the US to the sands of the Sahara, will change their lives forever. Lumina also incorporates elements of action and comedy, aiming to add more emotional depth into the science fiction genre. Starring Ken Lawson, Eric Roberts, Emily Hall, Rupert Lazarus, Eleanor Williams, Andrea Tivadar, and Sidney Nicole Rogers. There’s so much going on in here, so many different ideas and visuals and twists, it almost seems like they’ve bit off more than they could chew. Worth a look at least! But will it be any good?

Lumina narrates the story of Alex, whose girlfriend Tatiana disappears suddenly in a flash of a blinding light. Completely traumatized by the situation, Alex, along with his friends and a conspiracy theorist, embarks on a journey through a desert, during which they encounter unexpected challenges that compel them to fight for their lives and discover the truth that will change their lives. The film further examines the psychological effects on people when a family member or loved one disappears. Lumina is written and directed by the Canadian writer / producer / filmmaker Gino McKoy, making his feature directorial debut after a few other short films previously. Produced by Gino McKoy, Hudson McKoy, Lynda McKoy, and David Seychell. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. McKoy’s Lumina will debut in select US theaters starting on July 12th, 2024 this summer. For more info head to the film’s official site.
