“I had a dream about that girl again!!” Netflix has debuted their bubbly official trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, an animated version of the beloved Scott Pilgrim comic book series. Creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is back working on this show, with his distinct visual style coming to life on the screen as an anime series. Scott Pilgrim meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes in order to date her. Then things get even more complicated. Based on the beloved graphic novels by O’Malley. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off runs 8 eps, featuring the voices of Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, Brandon Routh, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mark Webber, Mae Whitman, and Ellen Wong (pretty much the entire cast from Edgar Wright’s movies back again). Science SARU is the animation studio, and Anamanaguchi, who created music for the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World video game, are working on the score with Joe Trapanese. This looks like it should be totally mega super rad. Fight on!!

I’m more than happy to announce that I have helped coax the entire original cast back to voice their characters on this epic new adventure. You are in for a treat.” Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is a series created by the comic book artist / writer Bryan Lee O’Malley, writing the adaptation (based on his own graphic novels) along with screenwriter BenDavid Grabinski, who is also the showrunner. With episodes directed by animation expert Abel Gongora (director of the “T0-B1” segment of “Star Wars: Visions”). It’s executive produced by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Michael Bacall, Eunyoung Choi, BenDavid Grabinski, Jared LeBoff, Nira Park, Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, and Edgar Wright.
