“I don’t need to sleep. I don’t use currency. I’m not a part of this time.” There’s a wild and crazy new short film going around the web called Coreys, made by comedian Conner O’Malley and filmmaker Dan Streit. If you haven’t already seen it elsewhere, catch up with it now. Coreys is the latest wacky creation from comedy mastermind Conner O’Malley, who makes comedy videos and prank videos on YouTube. This is the best intro via No Film School: “Coreys follows a man named Cory who feels a little stagnant and bored with his traditional family life. He’s fallen into a bit of a slump, until he starts having visions of a doppelgänger living a more exciting, vagrant life in Los Vegas. He eventually tracks down the darker version of himself, only to fuse with him, transforming the Corey’s into one super Corey.” This gets extra insane right at the 6 minute mark. It’s super creative & fun – a great example of what clever YouTube-generation filmmaking looks like.
Thanks to Vimeo Staff Picks for the tip on this short film. Brief intro via Vimeo: “Over 200 lbs White boy do prank at Target.” Or on YT: “Thank you Target asset protection.” The actual one-line synopsis for this one: “Corey goes to Las Vegas to meet the other Corey.” Coreys is a comedy short directed by filmmaker Dan Streit – you can view more of his work on his official website and follow him on IG @dan.streit. The script is written by comedian / filmmaker Conner O’Malley – who also runs his own famous YT channel making comedy videos and getting into trouble. It’s produced by Harris Mayersohn. Featuring cinematography by Tanner R. Hall, and original music by Mikal Cronin. With prosthetics created by Izzi Galindo FX. O’Malley’s next project is called Rap World, a feature-length mokumentary that will be playing at festivals. For info on this short, visit YouTube or Dan’s IG post or No Film School.
