Probably employed by the worse boss since Amanda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada, personal assistant Renfield must endure a slew of dark demands to keep his boss, Dracula, happy. But his tasks aren’t as basic as a Starbucks order, no, his boss insists on him fetching a busload of cheerleaders and a handful of nuns.
This is the premise for the new movie Renfield starring Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult as Dracula and his frustrated assistant respectively.
Chris McKay directs this horror comedy that will release in theaters on April 14.
From the looks of the trailer which gives away a lot of the movie’s plot so be wary of spoilers, Renfield is having an identity crisis. Tired of being co-dependent on his monstrous boss’s demands, the troubled henchman seeks the help of a support group. And almost like an AA Meeting With a Vampire, Renfield recalls his misadventures with his undead superior.
Of course, Dracula finds out about the betrayal and decides to crash the meeting.
McKay is probably most well-known for directing the irreverent pop culture roaster Robot Chicken. Or you may know him as the director of The Lego Movie. He also took the helm of the sci-fi actioner The Tomorrow War.
With that diverse list of movies, we can expect Renfield to be as funny as it is action-packed. Take a look a the trailer below and tell us what you think:
