Inde Navarette is everywhere right now. Just this weekend, Universal Studios dropped the news that “Freaky Nikki” from Obsession will be on the prowl during its annual Halloween Horror Nights event. It’s a big deal for Navarette, especially since she told Cosmopolitan that she had her fingers crossed for an Obsession moment at HHN. “I go every year, even though I get scared easily,” Navarette said back in June. Along with expressing excitement for the Sinners-themed house, she said she hopes to roam the HHN streets in character as Freaky Nikki. The jury is still out on whether you will see Navarette at HHN, but in the meantime, there’s somewhere else you can see everyone’s favorite scream queen: A jeans ad for Gap.
Alongside musician Malcolm Todd, Navarette is the face for Gap’s Fall 2026 campaign. The ad is a chic little minimalist music video, featuring Todd’s moody new cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.” Gap riffs on this, calling the campaign “Denim on your own.” Todd sings and dances and poses in nothing but jeans and boxers — almost D’Angelo “Untitled” style — alone. Multiple Todds appear together and, next thing you know, Navarette pops up, wearing an oversized brown chore, a white tank top, a belted brown skirt and black boots. The silhouette is not unlike Nikki’s pre-wish Obsession costume: Sleek foundation, with an oversized denim jacket and black boots to round it out.
Gap’s coy nod to the pre-wish Nikki outfit feels special, especially since Obsession costume designer Blair James has said that it’s one of her favorite looks from the film. James told me earlier this year that putting together the pre-One Wish Willow costume felt special, evoking a feeling she called a “glimmer.” The look was almost complete when Navarette herself suggested adding the oversized denim jacket. “When she put the denim jacket on with the red purse, it was this immediate, ‘Oh, that’s it,’” James recalled.
In introducing today’s campaign, Gap called Navarette “one of Hollywood’s most exciting rising talents,” celebrating her for “bringing authenticity and emotional depth to every role.” Navarette herself expressed a lot of excitement for the creative process, recalling how Gap gave her and Todd carte blanche to express themselves freely in the ad. “That’s what makes style so personal,” Navarette said in a statement. “It’s about feeling confident in who you are and showing up as yourself.”
Along with turning heads in Obsession and modeling for Gap, a stand-out fashion moment for Navarette was her feature in Schon Magazine. Shot by Nick Rasmussen, the editorial features Navarette in a series of horror movie-inspired situations. Somehow, in photos that nod to Universal Monsters-era horror or Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, Freaky Nikki brings the glamour.
Navarette is joining a new wave of fashion girls we love to see in horror movies. Think Anya Taylor-Joy of The VVitch and The Menu in a fresh role as global brand ambassador for Dior or top model Gabriette landing a role in Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s I Know What You Did Last Summer. It’s hard work being a Scream Queen and a fashion icon, but someone’s got to do it — and I personally can’t wait to see what Navarette does next.
