Genndy Tartakovsky‘s new TV show gets a major update from Adult Swim. The update has been long-awaited since the official announcement of the show in 2024.
What is the update on Star Wars: Clone Wars creator Genndy Tartakovsky’s new show?
Tartakovsky is known for creating some of Cartoon Network‘s most iconic shows, like Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, and Star Wars: Clone Wars. He also directed the blockbuster Hotel Transylvania film franchise.
At the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the Emmy-winner teased a new project titled Heist Safari, which now has a major update. Now retitled as Heist Brothers, it has been greenlit for production as a series. It “will have a 10-episode-run “high-octane project”, with each episode lasting 15 minutes.
Speaking during Adult Swim Studio Focus, studio president Michael Ouweleen said, “I’m pretty sure this is the most bonkers thing being made right now,” as per Variety. He also teased the show, promising a wall-to-wall EDM soundtrack with a style reminiscent of Tex Avery and Guy Ritchie. Moreover, he hopes to reveal more about the series’s progress at the next Annecy Festival.

The story of Heist Brothers follows three frog brothers who decide to rob a bank. But this is not as easy as they thought it would be. During its initial announcement in 2024, a short animation from Tartakovsky was shown by Ouweleen. It showed three frog brothers chasing a mouse who manages a bank vault before he could reach the security button. The frogs crash into obstacles while dodging bullets reflected in their faces.
The final series may differ from what was shown last year at the Annecy Festival. Moreover, there is no announcement made regarding the cast of the adult comedy series. The series is being produced by Cartoon Network Studios and is set to air on Adult Swim, but there is no official release date.
