Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity arrives later in July
After The Blood Warfare, The Separation, and The Conflict, the fourth installment, The Calamity, is finally arriving. The new chapter pushes the story closer to its long-awaited ending. Earlier this month, Variety revealed its official release date.
Viz Media confirmed The Calamity premieres on July 25. It will stream on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ will carry it across select international markets. The new installment continues adapting Tite Kubo’s bestselling manga as it pushes the story toward its final conclusion.
According to the official synopsis, the final war continues. The Royal Guard’s Squad Zero faces Yhwach at the Royal Palace, as Ichibe orders Ichigo to protect the Soul King. However, Yhwach’s deception changes everything very quickly.
The synopsis also teases that major battles are coming soon. The Royal Palace becomes the Wahr Welt. Ichigo also confronts Uryu over his true motives and Yhwach returns with the terrifying power of the Almighty.
Pierrot Films returns to produce the anime once again. Tomohisa Taguchi directs the new installment of the anime. Hiramatsu Masaki also returns for series composition while Shiro Sagisu composed the music for the season. Tite Kubo continues overseeing the anime’s final arc.
Viz Media’s General Manager Brian Ige praised the franchise’s legacy. “‘Bleach’ helped define modern anime for an entire generation of fans and creators,” Ige said. He also called The Calamity “a pivotal moment in the final arc of this extraordinary story.”
Ige further added that the new installment brings fans “closer than ever to its long-awaited conclusion.” He also said it is shaping up to be “one of the most unforgettable chapters in anime history.”
