Gracie Abrams sparked off a frenzy after posting an Instagram story chillingly cryptic with a touch of playfulness before her Lollapalooza set. This singer and songwriter, who prefers concepts dealing in intimacy with a soft vocal touch, gave a close-up of herself with the platinum hair covering one half of her face. Her eyes gazed upon a soft something with subtle makeup. The warmth in that picture barely contrasted with waves of excitement earlier set up for her gig on the T-mobile stage.

The caption was brief and cute but wormed with immense positive energy: ‘@lollapalooza Tonight 7pm t-mobile stage 😛.’ That was about it, really. But the fans cast off the emojis and started reading way too much into it.
‘What song is playing? I can’t see it says audio unavailable 😭,’ complained a user in a way showing annoyance at the lack of any audio context. ‘And I’ll cry what about it,’ added another comment seen through a veil of tears, desperately attesting to the almost all-too-common effect of Abrams’ music on people.
The theories began to fly: ‘Girl this is the gayest song I know tysm,’ thereby adding to the speculation about whether Abrams was hinting at a cover or a new song. Another fan screamed in all caps, ‘AHHHH U DID THIS ON PURPOSE!!!!,’ possibly suggesting a much bigger, more purposeful tease.
And then more voices filled the air. Another expressed, ‘TONIGHT WAS AMAZING THANK YOU GRACIE,’ legitimating that it was not just hype. Another fan became sentimental and confessed, “seeing u at lolla was the best thing that ever happened to me.” In between, another joked, ‘Pookie has a new post,’ breaking up the sentiment with a little bit of humor.
Amidst the uproar, a handful of fans thought they had caught by the tail a few supposed Easter eggs gleaming in plain sight. ‘It’s like the signs were there all along!!!!’ went one connoisseur’s comment, while another tagged a friend: ‘SHE TEASED THE dancing on my own uGHHH,’ referencing the iconic Robyn anthem.
Most comments, though? Not even trying to make sense of it, just gushing over Abrams. One says: ‘You are such a beautiful woman Gracie,’ followed by another shouting through probable tears: ‘OH MY TUAH GRACIE I LOVE YOU SO MUCCH.’
Then there was that one fan who ripened with passion yet saw chaos in his expression: ‘Te amo mi amor, hazme 6362826638 hijos’ (translation: ‘I love you my love, give me 6362826638 children’).
One of the comments amidst the frenzied excitement stuck around with the uplifting message, “They don’t tell you that things get better and more fun with time. They want you to believe your best days are behind you. Hopefully, not true. Good vibes only.” And that, even beyond the music, is a little reminder of how Abrams tends to uplift spirits with her being.

Well into the set, one thing was for sure: Impatiently waiting, Abrams has stirred. Surprised them with a cover or brand-new songs? Or simply slayed a mad show? One thing was for sure: Every single soul in that crowd was in that moment, and judging by their reactions, it’s safe to say her fans are about to spend a huge chunk of their time analyzing her next move on this post for any signs.
