Not only are the school lunches Duff Goldman makes for his daughter, Josephine, full of delicious food, but they also contain a fun surprise.
The Food Network star took to Instagram on Sunday, May 17, to share the sweet gesture he does for his daughter during her school week. “This weeks lunch cartoons for Josephine,” he wrote. “Every day she gets a cartoon in her lunch with a different animal (or monster) about to eat lunch.”
Goldman’s post featured a slideshow of lunchbox cartoons he has drawn for Josephine. His doodles feature animals such as sharks, snails, mice, birds, ants, and shrimp excited about lunchtime. Goldman signed each picture with “Mommy, Daddy and Samurai,” referring to his wife, Johnna Colbry, and the couple’s newborn son.
“She’s gonna remember this forever!” Goldman’s Baking Championship: Next Gen co-host Kardea Brown shared in the post’s comments. Fans also gushed over Goldman’s heartfelt gesture underneath the post, with one user writing, “So much fun! I’m sure Josephine looks forward to these each day!”
Another added, “You’re creating such amazing memories for her!” Someone else shared, “Best dad ever. U and johnna really have given her the happiest childhood ever and that is why she is such a magical little being.” A different person posted, “This is so cute, Duff. You seem like a great dad.”
A separate commenter said, “The dad of all Dads! I hope she is saving these gems.” Another suggested, “Save them- add them to a book for when she graduates high school :).”
Goldman and Colbry tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed Josephine two years later. In November 2025, Goldman announced via Instagram that they were expecting their second child.
“Oh boy! @johnnapgoldman has another bun in the oven!” he captioned a family photo featuring his wife’s baby bump. “I think Josephine is going to be the best big sister ever.”
The couple welcomed their son, Samurai “Sam” Jack, in March. “Before lil’ Sam came along I was certain that my heart was at capacity. I had no more room to fit any more love because how could I possibly with the two most beautiful girls in the world,” he wrote alongside hospital Instagram photos on April 3. “I was right, there was no more room. Instead, my heart just grew a few sizes and now my little family is just a tiny bit bigger (7#5oz to be exact).”
He continued, “I’m so excited to get the chance to raise a good little man into the world. I’m so excited for this sweet little baby to live his life and become the man he is destined to be. He’s got the best big sister a kid could ask for and his mommy is the best one I’ve ever seen. Starting off on the good foot, Sam, just don’t do the dumb stuff I did. Invent your own dumb stuff. Go get ’em, Tiger. I’m rootin’ for you.”
