Season 43 of Jeopardy! might be right around the corner, but the fans are not forgetting about how incredible Season 42 was. They voted on their favorite moments of the season, and the game show revealed what they were.
For the Best Show Moment, fans chose Jamie Ding‘s 31-game streak. He won $882,605 and climbed to the top 10 on the Leaderboard of Legends. Since that appearance, Ding, from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, went on to star on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, where he and Ben Affleck won $1 million. The bureaucrat will be back on screen for the next Tournament of Champions.
The Best Ken Jennings Moment was “What Could a Hoe Say?” He lip-synced to the Megan Thee Stallion song “Her,” which had the line “Just the other day, I heard a hoe say, ‘Matter of fact, what could a hoe say?’” Jennings walked out of his dressing room mouthing the words. The clip then flipped to him saying, “What is a hoe?” during his 74-game streak.
Michelle Tsai was chosen for Best Contestant Story. After losing her first game, Tsai, from Honolulu, Hawaii, returned to the Second Chance Tournament, where she won and advanced to the Champions Wildcard Tournament. She lost that tournament. But what fans remember most is her anecdote during her Second Chance appearance. “People might remember more than how you played,” Jennings said. “Your sweater.”
Tsai went on to say that she knitted her heart sweater herself. During the tournament, Tsai wore a pigeon sweater, which was a gray sweater with purple, blue, and green knit on the top. The small business that she got it from had run out of stock on the heart design.
Jeopardy! has a lot of categories that celebrities read. Fans voted their favorite for Season 42 as “Roommates,” which was read by Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street. The category was about, you guessed it, famous people who lived with other people.
Ryan Gosling got the Best Response win. He appeared in a promo for Jeopardy! to promote his film Project Hail Mary. “I didn’t get to finish,” he said. “Sorry. I’m already messing things up.”
He wrote, “What is IDK. I <3 Eva?” Eva is his wife, Eva Mendes.
Finally, Jennings also got the Best Q&A Response for another “hoe moment.” During tapings, the host will take questions from the audience. One fan asked, “Do you ever go to local trivia nights or bars and just like…?”
“Just stunt on those hoes,” Jennings responded with a laugh. “I do not play much bar trivia, I have to say. It’s like kind of an awkward situation. It’s weird if I win. It’s weird if I lose. Nobody is happy either way, I think.”
