Silo Season 3 Episode 3 Finally Sees the Real Juliette Shine (Even Just for a Moment)

Critic’s Rating: 4 / 5.0

4

We started to see hints of the Juliette we once knew during Silo Season 3 Episode 2.

The most recent hour has put the pedal to the metal a little more, giving us hints of the pig-headed, stubborn Juliette Nichols.

She isn’t going to stop looking for the truth, even if it means putting her life on the line.

Meanwhile, we delve further into Daniel and Helen’s past as they get to the bottom of what happened to Charlotte.

A Hint at Something Bigger at Play

There isn’t as much time spent on the past storyline.

After discovering that Charlotte’s memories had been intentionally wiped, Daniel and Helen decide to do a little more digging in Silo Season 3 Episode 3.

They know that there’s something more to this. Others who flew over Iran with her are dead, and someone wants to keep that mission quiet.

It turns out that there was a recording of everything that happened, and it takes some time and convincing, but Daniel is able to listen to it.

What he hears makes it clear that there is a much bigger conspiracy. After all, nobody is being told what really happened, and the only person who knows has had her memory wiped.

Charlotte knew that there was something dangerous and questionable happening in the first place. It’s why she wanted to speak with Helen, and why she was constantly looking over her shoulder.

Only Daniel and Helen can find out the truth, but there’s always someone lurking in the shadows.

Anyone they talk with about it ends up in danger, and Silo isn’t afraid to end with a lot more questions than answers.

My biggest question is whether they’ll keep the information to themselves now or keep digging.

Someone wants to scare them off, and that someone always wants to make it clear that others will end up in some sort of danger too.

The more Daniel and Helen dig, the more lives they risk. But the truth is worth all that, isn’t it?

Juliette Shows How She Really Feels

It seems that the truth is worth it all to Juliette.

This installment of Silo finally gives her some emotional meat.

Up to this point, she’s tried to remember because she knows that there is something she came back to the silo to do.

While it’s admirable, it’s not been all that emotional. Juliette just seems to be focused on the fact that something is missing.

Yet when you consider what it means to lose all your memories, you have to wonder about the burden Juliette bears.

Maybe it’s a defense mechanism, and I can certainly see that with who we know Juliette was. She tended to keep her emotions to herself, so of course, she’s going to do it now.

Things changed during the third hour, as she took a risk by going to see Robert Simms.

Of course, he’s angry considering the way she threatened both Camille and their son at the end of Silo Season 1. The nightmares their son has are understandable.

But that Juliette and this Juliette aren’t quite the same person. She has no memory, so she has absolutely no idea why she would even consider it acceptable to threaten the life of a child.

At least this boy gets to remember he has a dad. Juliette has no memories of her own and absolutely no idea what it feels like to have a dad.

This conversation gives us a deeper understanding of what memory wiping does. It strips a person of everything, including the feelings those memories bring.

This is wrong on so many levels, but nobody seems to speak about it. Even in the past, it’s really only Helen who is completely against it from the outset.

Now, Juliette has more to fight for when it comes to getting her memories back.

She wants to remember what it was like to have a father and a best friend — even if that best friend is being completely unreasonable in her anger toward Juliette.

This entire conversation leads to Juliette finally figuring something out.

Lukas Kyle was pulled out of the mines to become Bernard’s shadow. The only reason that would have happened was if Lukas learned something while in the mines.

How has it taken this long for people like Camille and entities like the Algorithm to realize this specific connection?

I understand Juliette not putting it all together because Lukas Kyle was just a name she kept hearing until she found out he needed to speak with her.

The problem now is that all her digging in the open has finally led Camille to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Why can’t they dig so far out? Why would that be in The Pact? Well, we know that it has to do with the other silos.

He knows all about the other silos, and he just wants to expose that truth to the rest of the people. Once he does that, the Safeguard will be put into place.

(Courtesy of Apple TV)

I get that we need someone for Camille to speak with about Lukas’s actions, but this whole setup keeps making her look dumb.

Of course, mentioning something like this to the Algorithm would prompt a reminder of the Safeguard.

The Althorithm has no reason not to kill everyone in the silo at this point, and she keeps offering up information to do so.

Considering Robert clearly knows about Vitamin D+, he could have been a great person to talk to about Lukas’s whereabouts.

Sure, it’s clear he doesn’t know everything, just like he didn’t with Bernard, but he does know Lukas is somewhere in the silo and is a wanted fugitive.

(Courtesy of Apple TV)

He’d likely just act to get Lukas back where he can question him.

It did create some interesting action and drama at the end, though.

Not only do we learn that Lukas was in the mines all along, but we also see Camille step up in hopes of saving the silo from the Safeguard.

And since Juliette is still stubborn and knows people need to be saved, it even leads to Camille getting a chance to save the silo from having Vitamin D+ added to the water.

Is she willing to kill Juliette? Maybe she needs to call in whoever killed the young Supply shadow and hid her body in the mines.
