Just in time for Melania Trump‘s birthday… her husband’s rape trial began in earnest!

A Mar-A-Lago source told People that Melania is going for a “low-key” fiesta amid her hubby’s very high profile legal issues. The insider said:
“Melania likes a low-key celebration with family and that I believe is her plan for this year’s birthday.”
They added that Trump haters are wrong — and these two aren’t distant at all!

The source actually said the ex-POTUS will celebrate Melania’s birthday “if” he’s around:
“If Donald is here, he will be joining the family to celebrate his wife’s birthday. Despite what you hear, the Trumps are a close family.”
Wow. We have to wonder if this insider kept a straight face saying they’re a close family and that Donald will join the party “if his schedule allows” as People put it. Amazing.
As for what’s taking up the bulk of his schedule today? Well, he’s being sued for defamation by rape accuser E. Jean Carroll, and that really got started on April 26, just in time for Melanie’s big day. In fact, the Ask E. Jean columnist took the stand for the first time on Wednesday, beginning by declaring:
“I’m here because Donald Trump raped me. And when I wrote about it, he said it didn’t happen. He lied and shattered my reputation. And I’m here to try to get my life back.”
She then recounted once again the horrific accusation from her book, that the real estate mogul cornered her in a Bergdorf’s dressing room and forced himself on her. She also reiterated the heartbreaking claim that she has not had sex or a romantic relationship of any kind since that day.

Trump has been too busy on Truth Social most of the day to pay any attention to Melania. We counted 18 posts and reposts and not a single one about his wife. There were, however, two about Ms. Carroll, trying to debunk her testimony in a very public way:
“The E. Jean Carroll case, Ms. Bergdorf Goodman, is a made up SCAM. Her lawyer is a political operative, financed by a big political donor that they said didn’t exist, only to get caught lying about that. Just look at her CNN interview before & after the commercial break – Like a different person. She said there was a dress, using the ol’ Monica Lewinsky “stuff”, then she didn’t want to produce it. The dress should be allowed to be part of the case. This is a fraudulent & false story–Witch Hunt!
They got caught lying! The Miss Bergdorf Goodman case is financed by a big political donor that they tried to hide. Does anybody believe that I would take a then almost 60 year old woman that I didn’t know, from the front door of a very crowded department store, (with me being very well known, to put it mildly!), into a tiny dressing room, and …. her. She didn’t scream? There are no witnesses? Nobody saw this? She never made a police complaint? If I was seen there with a woman-BIG PRESS. SCAM!”
The judge in the case isn’t having that, btw. Judge Lewis A Kaplan actually rebuked Trump’s legal team for the “entirely inappropriate” post — which His Honor heavily implied was bordering on jury tampering, saying Trump “may or may not be tampering with a new source of potential liability”:
“What seems to be the case is that your client is basically endeavoring, certainly, to speak to his quote-unquote public, but, more troubling, the jury in this case about stuff that has no business being spoken about.”
We’ll have to see how well the warning sticks…
As far as whether he’ll have time for Melania, well… did he ever really??
