Milly Alcock has not been fired from DC, despite a wave of speculation to the contrary. No trade publication has confirmed her exit, and neither Alcock nor DC Studios nor Skydance has issued any statement. The “Milly Alcock fired” rumors rest on fan theories and an Instagram cleanup, not verified reporting.
Rumors of Milly Alcock being fired from DC explained
The chatter reached a fever pitch on Thursday when Alcock scrubbed most Supergirl content from her Instagram. She deleted her casting announcement and several promotional posts tied to the character. That move fueled “Milly Alcock fired” videos that YouTube channels have been pushing since the summer. Comic Book News reported the rumors, but the outlet confirmed nothing. No trade has verified a firing.
Timing explains why the speculation feels plausible. The Skydance merger closed on October 6, handing David Ellison control of Warner Bros., DC, and HBO Max. Insiders claim Ellison now holds internal data on which projects made money and which bled cash. Supergirl sits firmly in the second category, with a projected theatrical loss near $244 million.
A Paramount insider summed up the new ownership’s approach: “The Ellisons are NOT loyal people, they’re business people.” Ynon Kreiz must cut $6 to $7 billion across the combined company, and insiders point to “a lot of contract expired situations” ahead. Supergirl dominates those ledgers, and Alcock fronts the film.
Still, deleting posts is not a firing. Alcock debuted as Supergirl in 2025’s Superman before headlining her solo film this year. After negative reviews and weak box office, she appears to be distancing herself from the role. Some Supergirl content survives on her profile, including a Vogue photo shoot post and clips in her Reels section. She has not explained the deletions.
Alcock will return in Man of Tomorrow, the Superman sequel releasing July 9, 2027. Expect her to promote the character again then. Until DC Studios announces otherwise, the “Milly Alcock fired” narrative stays exactly where it belongs: unconfirmed.
