A new animated adventure connected to the world of Superman is now available to stream. The series continues the lighthearted side of the franchise with short stories set in Metropolis. It also has a connection to Supergirl, giving fans another look at characters from the Superman family.
Krypto Saves the Day! Season 2 begins streaming on HBO Max today, September 10, 2026. The animated series follows Krypto the Superdog through short adventures in Metropolis and serves as a follow-up to the 2025 Superman film.
The animated series first debuted in August 2025 with “School Bus Scuffle.” Additional episodes followed with Halloween and holiday-themed adventures. The first season eventually concluded with “Coastal Catastrophe,” which brought Supergirl into the story and helped promote the character’s live-action film.
Supergirl’s appearance is one of the most notable aspects of the series. The episode featured Krypto alongside the character ahead of Supergirl’s theatrical release. Krypto also appears in the live-action Supergirl, further establishing the character as an important part of DC Studios’ Superman-related projects.
Krypto the Superdog’s adventures continue in the animated series
The new season continues the short-form format that made the series easy to watch. Season 2 begins with “Space Busted!,” which follows Krypto as he gets into trouble during a space-bus trip with Supergirl. The season features four new animated shorts, with each story focusing on Krypto as he faces a new problem and turns an ordinary situation into a chaotic adventure.
The Season 2 trailer also gives fans a preview of what is ahead. Superman and Supergirl can be seen flying together in the footage, highlighting the animated series’ connection to the wider Superman family. The trailer gives fans a glimpse of the new stories while keeping the focus on Krypto’s chaotic adventures.
Krypto Saves the Day! was developed by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, with James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Sam Register serving as executive producers. Despite its connection to Superman, Gunn has confirmed that the episodes are not part of the official DC Universe canon.
For now, Krypto Saves the Day! Season 2 is now available on HBO Max, with more episodes still awaiting release dates.
