Lawrence Jones Joined Fox News In 2018 As A Contributor
Jones is a political commentator known to many as a co-host on Fox & Friends. In addition, from 2022 to 2023, he hosted his namesake series, Lawrence Jones Cross Country.
This past week, however, Jones has been noticeably absent from Fox & Friends. Since then, however, he has explained what is going on.
Taking to X, Jones explained that this was due to a second surgery for a detached retina, which is believed to be due to a childhood sports injury. As he shared, “Hey family, you may have noticed my recent absence.”
The Story Is Something Of An Update To A Story Jones Shared Earlier This Year
Opening up about his health concerns, Jones shared, “I’ve been open about my eye surgery due to a retinal tear. However, I later discovered that this was caused by a childhood sports injury. Regrettably, I’ve sustained another retina detachment, which is common after the initial tear. Yesterday, I underwent surgery again with the best care team.”
Jones continued, thanking his teammates at Fox News and their viewers. He shared, “I want to express my deepest gratitude to my colleagues, Fox management, and our audience for their unwavering support during this challenging time.” Jones didn’t confirm an official return date. However, he expressed, “I’m optimistic that I’ll be back soon!”
As previously reported, Jones opened up about eye surgery earlier this year. At the time, it was done to repair a detached retina in his right eye. He previously shared that he had dealt with vision problems toward the end of 2025 and didn’t initially realize he needed to see a doctor.
Taking to the comments, fans wished Jones well as he recovers. A few shared that they were concerned and were happy for the update. Some comments included:
- “Wishing you well, Lawrence! I have had my eye troubles too, but with three eye operations over my 81 years I still have my sight which could not happen without God’s help. Heal and be back soon.”
